Autograph letters signed from J.L. Toole to various recipients [manuscript], 1874-1882.

Recipients: "Ted" (1-4) and the Rev. W.H. Reynolds (5). Letters written from Dumfries, T.R. Newcastle and several locations in London, including Toole's Theatre. The letters to "Ted" largely concern Toole's performance and touring schedule. In (1), Toole also asks "how is 'Sardines' doing, I mean 'Sardanapalus' I am anxious to know." (3), written on an envelope, concerns "Tottle's." (5) Toole thanks Reynolds for the tickets; he will try to come to the Bazaar. (6-7) consists of two prints of Toole, including an "ink-photo" of him as "The Don." Both prints include facsimiles of Toole's signature.
